Large flames engulfing church in northwest Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — SkyEye is over the scene of a large fire that has engulfed a church on West Montgomery Road near Highway 249 and Breen in northwest Harris County.

Smoke from the fire can be seen from 10 miles away. SkyEye, the only helicopter at the scene, spotted the flames shooting into the air at around 6:30 a.m.

Multiple units are on scene, and we are receiving reports that as many as seven fire departments responded.

The church at 11503 W. Montgomery Rd. is located next to Klein Intermediate and Nitsch Elementary Schools.

Exclusive SkyEye video shows southeast winds blowing the smoke to the north and west. You can also see the roof of the church is completely gone.

ABC13 is working to learn what caused the fire and if there are any injuries.
