Warm and humid start to the week, next front arrives Tuesday

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Warm and humid conditions have really settled in this Easter Sunday, and they’ll stick around for Monday too.

This is no April Fools joke…. tomorrow will feel like an early summer day! It’s a humid start to the day Monday with morning lows near 70 degrees. It’ll stay a bit cloudy too, though a few peaks of sun are expected as highs climb into the mid 80s. Winds will pick up too, gusting out of the south between 20 to 30 mph.

What should we expect with Tuesday’s front?

A weak cold front will swing through Tuesday morning, potentially bringing showers and a storm or two through midday. No severe weather is expected at this time. This front will also move out pretty quickly where temperatures Tuesday afternoon should rebound to the low 80s. It wont be until Wednesday when the cooler and drier air settles in, lasting for the rest of the week.

What does next weekend look like?

Next weekend could be the calm before the next storm system develops across the region. the weather though for Southeast Texas looks pretty good with slightly above normal temperatures. Both days could see morning lows in the low-mid 60s with afternoon highs in the low 80s with partly cloudy conditions. Sunday, however, there’s a 30 percent chance for showers and storms at this point.

What’s the weather forecast for the total solar eclipse on Monday, April 8th?

It’s still too soon to get an accurate feel for what the weather will bring, but we are expecting a weather system to be developing around Eclipse Day. That said, even if there are clouds over the state the eclipse could still be visible depending on the type of clouds. Because the weather system is still on the other side of the Pacific Ocean, we’ve got a lot of time to see how it will evolve and refine the impacts to Texas. For now we are calling for a partly sunny sky over Houston with a 30% chance for showers and thunderstorms. We sure hope the day is filled with sunshine so everyone has a clear view of the eclipse if they choose to view it safely!
